Stereoselective synthesis and semiempirical studies of spiro bridgehead bicyclic N-heterocycles via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides

The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of acenaph­thylene-1,2-dione with chiral cyclic secondary a-amino acid such as l-proline in the presence of acetylenic and ethylenic dipolarophiles which produce bridgehead bicyclic cycloadducts via 1,3-azomethine ylide have been studied. The stereoselectivity of cycloadditions have been ascertained by semiempirical calculations.

AM1 study on the conformations of zwitterions of 6-aminopenicillanic acid (6-APA)

The geometry and electronic structure of zwitterions of 6-aminopenicillanic acid (6-APA) have been optimized by semi-empirical molecular orbital AM1 method.  The mechanism of formation of zwitterions of 6-APA has been studied. The heats of formation (DHf˚), dipole moments (m), ionization potentials (IP), full atomic charges, and energies of frontier molecular orbital (EHOMO and ELUMO) have also been calculated.

Synthesis, characterization and biological screening of cobalt containing polymer films

Cobalt containing copolymer films have been synthesized by copolymerisation of methyl methacrylate and acrylonitrile containing different concentrations of poly cobalt methacrylate.
